Trainer Biographies

Leon Trayman – EFP, EMT, EMCI
Leon has been teaching voice & singing lessons for more than ten years. Leon initially trained as a musician & is a proficient pianist, saxophonist, clarinetist as well as highly experienced vocalist.
He went on to train as an actor at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama & continues to work as an actor, musician, director & voice coach in professional theatre, TV, Film & Radio. His performance credits include: Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, Malvolio & Sir Toby Belch in Twelfth Night, Sir Lucius O’Trigger in The Rivals (which he also directed), Eric de Vene in A Slice of Saturday Night (Edinburgh Festival) as well as innumerable corporate, e-learning & EfL recordings as a voiceover artist.
He has worked as a singing teacher at the world famous Brit School, Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts & on the Musical Theatre degree course at Colchester Institute. He also lectures in voice at The University of Northampton and has been a visiting tutor at ArtsEd, ALRA, WAC Arts, Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Rose Bruford College, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Institute of Arts (Barcelona), Drama Studio London, AMTA, Goldsmith’s College (University of London), University Centre Weston & many other vocational & university training programmes across the UK & Europe. Due to the diversity of Leon’s training & experience, he approaches his teaching & performance from musical, theatrical, directorial & technical voice perspectives.
This is all underpinned by the Estill Model, which provides a physiological basis on which to build a reliable, effective, responsive & expert voice for all his clients, irrespective of age or previous experience.
Leon is an Estill Mentor Course Instructor (EMCI) and holds a MFA in Voice Studies from Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

Gemma Boaden – EFP, EMT
Gemma trained as a classical actress at Rose Bruford College graduating in 2005.
She has worked extensively in theatre since then from New writing to classical reportoire, and childrens theatre to West End Musicals.
She started her EMT pathway with Anne-Marie Speed in September 2014 and is currently the Head of Voice at Northampton University, BA (Hons) Acting Course.
Gemma specialises in teaching Spoken Voice and is currently completing her PhD exploring how the Estill Model can really benefit and enhance the actors’ process and performance.
